Finally starting classes back up. Taught Awareness to 70 young councilors at Camp Harlow today. Great class, very receptive. They definitely take their responsibility to protect the kids in camp very seriously.

Hopefully, we will all be able to start attending services in our houses of worship soon. Always be aware. The enemy is still at work in his attempts to take us down using a variety of methods. Stay safe and God Bless.

Safety

With the rapidly changing environment surrounding COVD19, some of the figures from this tip may have already changed. The bottom line is take precautions, use common sense and follow the guidelines established by the CDC.
Safety Tip: Coronavirus and other contagious diseases

As this is being written, over 1000 people worldwide (mostly in China) have died from the 2019 novel (new) coronavirus (2019-nCoV), about which much more needs to be learned, but which can be spread from human to human. (It has not yet been determined how easy this transmission is.) The number will likely be higher by the time you read this. The symptoms include fever, cough, and difficulty breathing---symptoms that can also occur in other respiratory infections, such as the flu.

And speaking of the flu: The CDC estimates that there have been 12,000 deaths in the U.S. so far from the flu this flu season---that is 12 times the number of deaths as from the coronavirus worldwide. And, unlike the coronavirus, there is a vaccine readily available that can prevent, or at least lessen the impact of, the flu.

Preventive precautions you can take are similar for these two diseases, as well as other illnesses spread through the air:
• If you are sick, consider staying home. You’ll likely recover faster, and you will not risk infecting others.
• If providing care to someone who is ill, use disposable medical gloves. Also use gloves if touching body fluids such as blood or vomit. After use, properly remove and dispose of the gloves, and then wash your hands with soap and water.
• Germs can remain on surfaces and can be transmitted by contact with an infected person, such as shaking hands. Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds; if that is not possible, use an alcohol-based hand rub containing at least 60% alcohol.
• Avoid touching your mouth, eyes, and nose with unwashed or gloved hands.
• If you must cough or sneeze, cover your nose and mouth with a tissue or with your upper sleeve or elbow, not your hand.
• Generally, take care of yourself: get plenty of rest and drink plenty of water.
